Remote Learning

This document outlines the provisions available for pupils during any periods of school closure.

Communication of school closure

If the decision is made to close the school to one or more year groups, the following will happen:

  • An announcement will be sent via ClassCharts to pupils and parents informing them of the closure
  • A message will be sent via Arbor to inform pupils and parents of the closure

Remote Learning Provision

The work set for pupils may take a variety of forms, including:

  • Remote lessons, either live or pre-recorded. In most cases, lessons from Oak National Academy (www.continuityoak.org.uk) will be used, as they align closely with our curriculum.
  • Classwork and revision tasks assigned via ClassCharts.
  • Independent learning activities using Sparx Maths, Sparx Reader, and Sparx Science.
  • Seneca Learning tasks, either set independently by pupils or assigned by teachers.

Live Teacher Support

Teachers will provide a Microsoft Teams link via ClassCharts for each scheduled lesson. This enables pupils to access live support and guidance from their teacher during their timetabled sessions.

Submitting Work

When using Oak National Academy or other pre-recorded resources, pupils will usually complete their work on paper, although digital completion is acceptable where devices are available.

To submit work, pupils should:

  • Take a clear photograph of their completed work using an electronic device, and
  • Upload it to ClassCharts or send it directly to their class teacher via their school email account.
