George Eliot Academy recently welcomed back last year’s Year 11 cohort for its Awards and Celebration Evening, a special event recognising the hard work, progress, and success of our pupils.

The evening began with a drinks and nibbles reception, giving pupils and their families the chance to reconnect with staff and reflect on their time at George Eliot Academy.

Following a warm welcome from the Principal, Homeira Zakary, and Vice Principal, Hannah Jenkins, pupils were presented with Excellence Awards, chosen by teachers, and Progress Awards for those who had made exceptional strides in their learning. Pupils also received their GCSE certificates, celebrating the remarkable achievements of the cohort.

We were delighted to be joined by alumnus Professor Paul Weaver, who has gone on to enjoy a successful career with NASA and Ferrari. Professor Weaver gave an inspiring speech, sharing his experiences and encouraging pupils to aim high in their future endeavours.

Vice Principal Hannah Jenkins said:
"We had an incredible evening celebrating the achievements of our Year 11s. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and the resilience they have shown throughout their journey. Seeing them together again was a reminder of the bright futures ahead of them."

Principal Homeira Zakary added:
"It was wonderful to welcome back our Year 11s for an evening dedicated to celebrating their achievements. Each of our pupils will always be part of the George Eliot Academy community, and we look forward to seeing all they go on to accomplish."
