Official opening of our new science and art classrooms!

This week, we were delighted to welcome Jodie Gosling MP to George Eliot Academy to celebrate the official opening of our newly refurbished science laboratories and art classroom.

As part of the visit, Ms Gosling toured our brand-new facilities, taking time to speak with pupils and staff about the high-quality learning taking place across the school. She began in our refurbished art room, where she viewed a display of pupils’ creative work, before heading to our upgraded science rooms. There, she observed our Year 10 class in action and joined a Year 7 Nebula lesson exploring friction — a brilliant opportunity for her to see the new spaces being used to their full potential.

Our pupils have already been sharing their excitement. Victoria, one of our Year 10 students, said:
“The new classrooms are amazing – they make lessons much more exciting, and it feels like we’ve got space to really be creative and try new things.”

Ms Gosling praised our investment in high-quality teaching spaces, commenting:
“It’s wonderful to see a school investing in facilities that inspire passion, learning and ambition. Spaces like these help young people to become independent and resilient, preparing them for whatever the future holds.”

Our Principal, Homeira Zakary, shared her pride in the project:
“We are absolutely delighted to open our newly refurbished art room and science laboratories. These modern, purpose-built spaces provide an exceptional environment for teaching and learning.

“The new science labs bring learning to life and give pupils greater opportunities to develop their interest in STEM subjects, while our art room offers bright, inspiring spaces for pupils to explore ideas and express themselves.

“This investment, supported by United Learning, reflects our ongoing commitment to providing every pupil with the best possible learning experience.”

We are thrilled to see the positive impact these updated facilities are already having on our school community and look forward to the opportunities they will create for our pupils.
